Alan Shepard

Alan Shepard walked on the moon during the Apollo 14 mission. Although this is a mighty accomplishment in its own right, he is better remembered as being the first American in space, during his Murcury 1 sub-orbital flight. Alan Shepard is also remembered as being the first to "play golf" on the lunar surface. He passed away in 1997.
